The first event in the Media Literacy Days 2023 calendar is a webinar-presentation of the new Bulgarian-Romanian hub at the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO)

The European Digital Media Observatory EDMO is organizing a webinar on media literacy at national and regional levels. The event will take place on the 22 March from 14:00 – 15:15 on Zoom. Participation is free, but registration is required.
The meeting will focus on the work of three of the EDMO hubs: ADMO – the digital media hub in Croatia and Slovenia, BROD – the Bulgarian-Romanian hub and MEDMO – the Mediterranean hub operating in Greece, Cyprus and Malta.
With the inclusion of BROD, which was officially presented at the end of January 2023 within a week of events called “United against misinformation” and organized by the GATE Institute at the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) now has affiliates and is active in all 27 member states. The organization aims to counter disinformation and analyze its impact on society and democracy at both national and European levels.
Each of the centers is actively involved in the promotion of digital and media literacy as part of its mission and has teams of experts working on the subject.
On 22 March, the digital and media literacy work carried out by several of these hubs will be presented and work areas of common interest will be outlined. Reaching out and engaging the wider community in digital and media literacy is a priority for EDMO and for each of the regional hubs.
Among the speakers will be: Milena Dobreva, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, a member of the Media Literacy Coalition; Nicoleta Corbu, Scoala Nationala de Studii Politice si Administrative (SNSPA), Romania; and Kostas Konstantinidis of the University of Cyprus.
This session is organized by the Media & Learning Association and is part of a series of webinars on the topic. Another such session will be held on April 19, featuring BECID – BALTIC Engagement Center for Combating Information Disorders (covering Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania), GADMO – German-Austrian Digital Media Observatory and HDMO – Hungarian Center Against Disinformation.
